In Europe, the push for electric vehicle (EV) adoption is gaining unprecedented momentum, fueled by robust government policies.    The EU's Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR) mandates the deployment of fast - charging stations at regular intervals along major transport corridors, while member states like Germany, the Netherlands, and France are offering substantial subsidies for charging infrastructure.

Germany: The German government has formulated a comprehensive subsidy policy for public and private charging piles.   For eligible small and medium-sized enterprises and regional organizations, the maximum subsidy for each charging station when building ordinary charging piles (3.7-22kW) is 4,000 euros, and the maximum subsidy for building fast charging piles (DC, 22-50kW) is as high as 16,000 euros.   High-power charging piles with a power output of over 100KW have the opportunity to enjoy a subsidy of up to 30,000 euros.   The subsidy amount for ordinary AC public charging piles can also reach up to 2,500 euros, and the subsidy standard for private charging piles is 900 euros.   In October 2024, Germany approved a plan to invest 6.3 billion euros over the next three years to rapidly expand the number of electric vehicle charging stations across the country, with the aim of reaching one million by 2030.

The Netherlands: The Dutch government has launched the Enterprise Private Charging Infrastructure Subsidy Program (SPRILA) and the Heavy Transport Public Charging Infrastructure Subsidy Program (SPULA).   SPRILA will be implemented on September 24, 2024, with a budget of 42 million euros.   It will provide financial support for enterprises located in industrial zones or distribution centers to install charging points.   SPULA will come into effect on October 1, 2024, with a budget of 15 million euros allocated to expand public charging stations for heavy-duty electric vehicles such as trucks, support the establishment of a charging station network for heavy-duty electric vehicles across the country, and promote the construction or expansion of charging facilities.

France: The French government has added an additional 200 million euros in public subsidies to the "Charging Infrastructure Program" to support the installation of household and street charging piles as well as the development of dedicated charging piles for heavy trucks.   The tax credit for families purchasing and installing charging piles has been raised from 300 euros to 500 euros, and it is also required that new buildings be mandating the installation of charging piles.   According to the plan, France will build 400,000 public charging stations by 2030.

With such aggressive initiatives, the demand for reliable and accurate metering solutions for EV charging stations is soaring.
